Mark Salvestro

Mark Salvestro is an award-winning Australian actor, writer and theatre
producer.
Most recently, he performed in the lead role of Caravaggio in Canberra
Theatre Centre’s production of Chiaroscuro, as part of their inaugural New
Works program. He has since worked as an actor on the development of
several new Australian works, including Helen Machalias’ Barren Ground
at The Street Theatre, Adam Deusien’s A Good Bloke and David Finnigan’s
The Dispossessed.
In 2020, Mark received a ‘Best Theatre’ weekly award at the Adelaide
Fringe for his solo show, The Will To Be, which he wrote, performed and
produced for seasons at Melbourne Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, La Mama and
Cooma in regional NSW. Prior to this, he wrote, produced and performed
his critically-acclaimed debut solo work, Buried at Sea, which had seasons
at Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, Brisbane Anywhere Festival,
and performances in Forbes and Cooma in regional NSW.


In 2020, Mark adapted his solo theatre practice for screen, creating A Covid Coming Out, a digital one-man show
commissioned by Midsumma, which later featured as part of a special exhibition at ACMI at the 2021 Midsumma
Festival.
Mark has trained extensively as a performer, including part-time at the Actors Centre Australia in Sydney and full-
time at the Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia in Melbourne.
Additional theatre credits include Strata Inc. and Navy Pier (North of Eight theatre company), Comedy of Errors
(Australian Shakespeare Co., Prague Fringe), Lonely People are Always Up in the Middle of the Night (La Mama),
and Couch Potato and Fairy Tale News (WIT Inc.).
Short film credits include Something Rotten in the State of Denmark (Pet Rock Films), The Establishment (Dir.
Christopher Fulloon), Brawl (Dir. Nadia Townsend), One Foot in the Grave (Dir. Jake Murphy), and Deadline (Dir.
Marion Slatter).
Mark has recently returned to Sydney after living in Canberra and Cooma in regional NSW for the past few years.
